Brown Bag Session on Community-Led School Zone Road Safety

This session showcased the recent ADB-funded, community-led School Zone Road Safety Project in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, and the Safe School Zone Community Toolkit developed by the project team. The speaker, Emily Carr, gave an overview of the project and its successes, as well as some of the lessons learned in the process.
This brown bag also focused on the importance of stakeholder engagement and how this can strengthen projects and help to deliver community-led solutions. The tools available to support similar projects were also discussed.

Emily Carr, Deputy Director for Programmes and Sustainability, Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST)
Emily leads EASST’s work on safe school zones, children and young people’s road safety, and community and stakeholder engagement. EASST is a UK-registered charity whose mission is to save lives and prevent injuries by making road transport safer, greener and more sustainable for future generations. She manages EASST’s FIA Foundation funded Safe School Zone project advocating for 30-kilometer/hour school zones in seven countries. She recently managed the ADB-funded project in Ulaanbaatar to develop a community led School Zone Road Safety Project and produced the Community Toolkit for School Zone Road Safety Projects.
